Barbados review for foodies: Caribbean Island’s new all-inclusive cooking retreat

Aptly named The Rumantic Culinary retreat, it offers an exclusive opportunity to learn how to cook authentic Caribbean cuisine as well as trying your hand at making cocktails and rum tasting – all while soaking up the rays at the luxurious all-inclusive resort.

Celebrity chef, Shivi Ramoutar – who appeared on Masterchef in 2013 – is on hand to show you how to cook authentic cuisine from scratch, including her signature dish of foil-baked jerk snapper with breadfruit chips.

While the world’s leading rum ambassador and RumFest founder, Ian Burrell, will take you on a visit to a local rum distillery before indulging you in a rum tasting session, where guests will be taught all there is to know about the Island’s favourite tipple.

Also included in the retreat is a visit to the local food markets, giving you the opportunity to discover the fresh produce available on the Island and a cocktail-making class with Ian, where you can create a cocktail to your own, personal taste.

And while your food and drink ne are being met by Shivi and Ian, guests are also able to enjoy all the amenities at the luxurious Sandals resort, including a rooftop infinity pool, bowling alley, several restaurants and, of course, the beach front.
