Holiday 2019 WARNING: Latest FCO travel advice for Spain, France, Turkey and Dubai

For those travelling to Dubai and the wider UAE, the FCO has flagged reminders of traditional customs and laws which should be observed.

Despite the sweltering heat, female dress code is one of these, and it states how women should dress modestly when in public areas like shopping centres.

Clothes should cover the tops of the arms and legs, and underwear should not be visible.

Cross-dressing is illegal.

Meanwhile, safety-wise, it stated: “Terrorists are likely to try to carry out attacks in the UAE.

Attacks could be indiscriminate, including in places visited by foreigners.

“Terrorists continue to issue statements threatening to carry out attacks in the Gulf region.

“These include references to attacks on western interests, including residential compounds, military, oil, transport and aviation interests as well as crowded places, including restaurants, hotels, beaches, shopping centres and mosques.

“You should maintain a high level of security awareness, particularly in public places.”

Express.co.uk recently reported how Turkey had upped its security rating on the site.

Currently, the FCO advise against all but essential travel to areas within 10 km of the border with Syria, except the city of Kilis.
