Hoping for a bonfire to pass the time in isolation? No way, says fire department

If you were hoping to have a backyard bonfire to pass the time during COVID-19 isolation, you’d better make other plans.

The London Fire Department is banning open burns as of April 1.

“The London Fire Department is currently operating with essential services only,” said Deputy Fire Chief Matt Hepditch.

“We’d like to remind Londoners that yard waste is not permitted to be burned during spring maintenance.”

The ban will be in place until further notice, Hepditch said.

If you have questions about the fire ban, you should contact the London Fire Department‘s fire prevention division at 519-661-4565, email fireforms@london.ca or visit london.ca/fire
