As more people adhere to the coronavirus advisories and stay home, they’re increasingly able to watch performances, participate in tastings and go through classes virtually with everyone from Kendall-Jackson winery conducting wine tastings to Lizzo conducting a group meditation. Now hotels are getting into the act, offering some of their programs and activities in live fe and videos.

MacArthur Place Hotel Spa
In Sonoma, California, MacArthur Place Hotel Spa is conducting yoga sessions starting March 26th on their Instagram channel @macarthurplace. The vinyasa classes appropriate for all levels will concentrate on intention, strength, alignment, balance and release of tension, undeniably helpful right now. Dancer and yoga instructor Andrea Bogart usually teaches the classes from the property’s Coach House but since the property is currently closed, she’s teaching from home.
In Nashville, people who need some new music to enliven their home environment can receive it through Bobby Hotel’s Instagram IGTV channel @bobbyhotel starting March 23rd. A stream of Music City’s musicians and songwriters is expected to participate.
The Betsy’s concentration on art is visible throughout the hotel.
Elsewhere in the arts, The Betsy-South Beach in Miami Beach is offering its arts salon online in partnership with Florida International University of Miami Beach and John Stuart, Executive Director of Miami Beach Urban Studios/FIU. Starting March 30th, the series called “Zen and the Art of … (Poetry, Music, Photography, Architecture)” will feature talks with and performances by architect Chad Oppenheim, photographer Robert Zuckerman, poet Campbell McGrath and cellist Jason Calloway. It will be accessed via Zoom and by sending an RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org.
For a more hands-on arts project, and to help parents entertain now-homeschooled children, Ireland’s 16th century Dromoland Castle is featuring Limerick artist Una Heaton giving arts and crafts lessons. The first one, available now, is a tutorial on how to construct a castle using materials found around the house.
Farther afield, those who have to postpone African safaris for awhile can instead see and hear the sights and sounds of Africa with andBeyond’s virtual hub Bringing Africa Home.
