Banerjee will be accompanied by finance minister Amit Mitra, chief secretary Malay De and the finance secretary during her September 16-28 visit to Frankfurt and Milan. She has been invited by delegates who attended the Bengal Global Business Summit in January.
The CM said she goes abroad once a year to attract investments. “I had a request from Poland, but I sent state power minister Sovandeb Chattopadhyay there. Here, my going is important because they (the delegates) had come here,” she said.
Banerjee also referred to the two committees formed to deal with emergencies and natural calamities like floods. The GoM under state education minister Partha Chatterjee’s chairmanship will include ministers like Subrata Mukherjee (panchayat), Firhad Hakim (urban development), Suvendu Adhikari (transport), Aroop Biswas (PWD) and six others.
The 15-member committee of officers will be headed by additional chief secretary (irrigation, waterways and agriculture) Naveen Prakash. It will include home secretary Atri Bhattacharya, state security adviser Surajit Kar Purkayastha, state DG Virendra, ADG (law and order) Anuj Sharma and city police chief Rajeev Kumar.
