CONROE, TX — The French Embassy in the United States has selected Lone Star College-Montgomery student Jocelyne Trevino to attend Rendez-Vous, a 10-day environment and energy summer school in Paris, June 11-20.
Also covered are cultural activities like visits to Notre Dame, the Eiffel Tower and the Palace of Versailles.
“I was excited when I found out I had been selected,” said Trevino. “I am studying civil engineering and I would like to be an architect someday, so Paris has always been my number one place to visit because of the structures there. I am so honored to see it all in real life and participate in this program.”
“I do speak Spanish fluently, so I do not know if that will help at all,” said Trevino. “I am also looking forward to gaining a valuable global perspective by developing important cross-cultural communication skills, creating international contacts, and learning to be open to new ideas and concepts.”
Trevino is an Honors College Chancellor’s Fellow at LSC-Montgomery. She was selected from a limited number of incoming freshmen. Her tuition, fees and books are paid for as she pursues an associates degree. Her acceptance into the program convinced her to attend LSC-Montgomery.
“I did not have enough money to go to an actual university right out of high school, so the Chancellor’s Fellow scholarship helped me stay on track with my educational and professional goals,” said Trevino. “Now I am getting a challenging education, I am getting the opportunity to go to France this summer with the French Embassy and I will be traveling to Italy next spring with the Chancellor’s Fellows! I appreciate all the opportunities I have been given at Lone Star College.”
