Best for: Divers and travelers on a budget
If your idea of the perfect beach holiday entails intimacy with lush nature and seclusion from the crowd, Biyadhoo Island Resort may just be the resort for you. An amazing tropical island experience is guaranteed, complete with postcard-perfect sandy beaches and budget-friendly accommodations (so friendly you won’t believe that prices like this exist in the Maldives).
Nestled on a lush island in the South Malé Atoll, Biyadhoo can be reached by a scenic 40-minute speedboat ride. Stripped of the luxurious excess that’s expected from most of the resorts in the archipelago country, Biyadhoo boasts 96 standard rooms—all comfortable and fully equipped—within two-story buildings (we recommend booking a room on the ground floor for direct access to the beach). The infrastructure is simple and WiFi is not available in the rooms, which is not a problem as it allows you to be in touch with nature (you’re in the Maldives, remember?) and lounge on silvery sands or enjoy one of the many aquatic activities provided by the resort, from catamaran sailing to snorkeling offshore to spotting whale sharks or schools of manta ray. Ideal for nature lovers, Biyadhoo is also known for being surrounded by the most beautiful house reef in the Maldives, so there’s no need to go far to appreciate the Maldivian underwater world and make friends with tamed black-tip sharks.
Palm Restaurant serves all-you-can-eat buffets featuring pan-continental cuisine, as well as Maldivian dishes, while The Coconut Bar is a go-to spot for imbibing your favorite tropical cocktails and socializing with other guests. The small resort also boasts the Aavun Spa where you can unwind after a full day of beach activities and enjoy treatments ranging from acupressure to aromatherapy.
