The annual Wonderful Indonesia Culinary and Shopping Festival (WICSF) initiated by the Tourism Ministry and the Indonesian Shopping Center Association (APPBI) is set to return for a third time from Sept. 27 to Oct. 27.
As reported by kompas.com, up to 150 malls across 20 provinces will participate in the festival, including Jakarta, Pekanbaru, North Sumatra, South Sumatra, Banten, West Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta, East Java, Bali, West Sulawesi and East Kalimantan.
“Hopefully this year the transaction value can increase by 80 percent from last year, which reached Rp 1.3 trillion [US$87.6 million] per month for each mall throughout the festival,” APPBI DPP chairman Stefanus Ridwan S. told a press conference in Jakarta on Tuesday.

“This annual festival is an interesting event since it strategically can boost economy, increase shopping and culinary transactions that contribute to tourism sector, and most importantly lure foreign tourists from neighboring countries,” said Arief.
The event is also said to positively affect small and medium business players to continue manufacturing good quality products, from fabrics and batik clothes to tenun (woven textile) and handicrafts. (kes)
