Belgium – 104 flights cancelled
Pilots in Belgium announced their intention to strike on 1 August in solidarity with Irish pilots.
The pilot union BeCa said in a statement that they “call all Ryanair pilots based in Belgium to support their Irish colleagues and to join the strike action that will take place on 10 August”.
Their demands of Ryanair include; to stop the threat of delocalising Dublin crew; for national legislation to be put into place; and the withdrawal of threats against crew members.
This has affected 104 flights to and from Belgium. Ryanair said in a statement: “We have received strike notice from pilot unions in Belgium and Sweden for next Friday, August 10, and have regrettably cancelled 104 to/from Belgium.
“All affected customers have already been notified by email/SMS and will be readily re-accommodated (or refunded) on other Ryanair flights.
“We apologise to our customers for the disruption these unnecessary strikes will cause.”
Sweden – 22 flights cancelled
Swedish pilots announced their intention to strike along with Belgium, with 22 flights to and from the country cancelled.
Pilot union SPF said in a statement: “All proposals from Ryanair that have been shown to the SPF have meant restrictions on how our members are organized and represented, something that is unacceptable to a union.”
