The exclusive-use property in Phinda Private Game Reserve in the KwaZulu Natal province of South Africa has been completely rebuilt and is once again open to guests. It comprises four private villas and expansive common areas including a sun deck, fire pit and pool.
Interiors take cues from the local Zulu culture, and the earthy tones, traditional Nguni hides, woven works and other crafts, all sourced from nearby, create a vibrant aesthetic.
Large expanses of glass and large bathtubs in spacious bathrooms are situated to capture bush views. A deep verandah includes a bar that does double duty for breakfast and sundowners, and there’s plenty of room for alfresco dining and imbibing. The open kitchen with hanging herb garden invites interaction with guests. There is also a gym and massage area, and a nanny’s room.
