MADRID – To mark the 40-year anniversary of the approval of the
Spanish Constitution, the Museum Reina Sofia is hosting the show
‘El poder del Arte. Conmemoracion del 40 aniversario de la
Constitucion espaola’, until March 2.
Organized in cooperation with the Cortes Generales and Accion
Cultural Spagnola, the exhibit focuses on the role of Parliament
in the approval of the charter in 1978 and is developed along
two parallel itineraries at the Congress of Deputies and Senate.
Organized thanks to funding from the Reina Sofia, the two
itineraries allow visitors to imagine new uses and roles, both
for art and the space it occupies, and reflect on the role of
contemporary societies and relations between art and power. The
show exhibited at the Chamber of Deputies focuses on an era of
transition in Spain from the dictatorship to democracy, while
the one at the Senate offers an insight into the evolution of
art in Spain over the last 40 years.
