Saint Martin is the tiniest island in the world to be d by two nations. The northern French area of the island is an overseas collectivity of France, while the southern Dutch area of the island (St. Maarten) is one of the countries of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Guests are free to explore both sides of the island to enjoy the many miles of coastline and discover more about Caribbean, Dutch and French cultures. No matter which side you explore, the island has something for everyone. Golfers enjoy the 18-hole course in Mullet Bay or leave the land for plenty of water sports that can be enjoyed right off the beaches—or deeper at sea. It’s also popular as both a romantic getaway and a family destination. If you’re planning a trip to Saint Martin, here are the island’s best resorts.
It’s hard to find a more luxurious resort on Saint Martin than the Belmond La Samanna. (The villas also feature a private infinity pool.) For water sports lovers, La Samanna has complimentary single or double kayaks for exploring, and snorkeling gear is also available.
